14th February will always be remembered as a bad day for my family. something tragic happened, my mother was hit by a car! worst news I have ever received. it left me in despair, desperation and utter sorrow. in all this God has been good to us and he still is. today, I want to share lessons learnt from this experience and trial.
- Give thanks in everything-even pain! his word tells us to give thanks in all circumstances.
- God will provide. whilst in hospital, mother needed an operation that was going to cost huge sums of money. the human instinct was to despair but God was gracious and provided the money. even when the Israelites thought they were going to perish at the hands of the Egyptians, God parted the red sea and they crossed on dry land. he is Jehovah Jireh, whatever you may need in whatever situation he is a provider.
- Our plans are not God's plans. we have planned what seems to be the 'perfect' lives for ourselves. what to do today, tomorrow and the next day. but we ought to acknowledge that all this can change in the twinkling of an eye. we ought to say if the Lord wills we will live and do this or that.
- Lean only on God in all circumstances because he is our refuge and strength in times of trouble. his name is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and they are safe.
- You will not always have the desire to read the bible or pray but the beauty of daily devotions is that scriptures start to come to mind to encourage and strengthen you.
- Nothing happens by accident or mistake. for the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous. everything happens under his loving and watchful eye.
- All things work together for those who love God. we may not be able to understand why certain things befall us. sometimes to teach us to depend only on God, to strengthen our faith and walk with him or to purify us. at the time it is painful but God will not leave us nor forsake us.
- Friendship with fellow believers is beautiful. when I couldn't pray, they prayed with me and continue to do so. they read scripture to encourage and strengthen me. choose your friends wisely.
I wrote this blog to encourage someone who may be going through what seems as a dark situation. my friend, God is with you and this circumstance will pass. he who promised is faithful and will never leave you. lets us therefore learn to cast all our cares on him because he cares for us.
till next time lets keep it Jesus!
