Change

I've been wanting to publish this post for a while now. But for some reason it was tucked away in my journal.
We have come to to the end of the year (so soon, I know) but God has sustained each one of us. We all have different experiences and stories we would love to share about how the past year has been. It will soon be time for the new year resolutions, goals and plans. This will mean plenty of change and uncertainty all around us. We do not know what the next year has in store for us, whether good or bad.
But God does not change! That should comfort us. In the midst of our uncertainty he remains certain, he stays the same.

"for I the Lord do not change;therefore you,O children of Jacob, are not consumed". Malachi 3:6
"every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change". James1:17

The attributes of God in times past are still the same even today. He has and will always be our refuge in times of trouble, helper, healer and always loved his people because his love is everlasting. This is a blessing to us and a sweet assurance. We can trust his promises because he will fulfill them.
Lord teach us to praise you for all that is past and to trust you for all that is to come.

"Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever" Hebrews 13:8

Speech check!

I recently bumped into an acquaintance as I was walking down our street. After a few pleasantries we parted ways. Immediately he left I was left with thoughts of whether I had spoken the right words, maybe gone out of line in being friendly (if at all such a thing exists) or said too much and ended up sinning. How many times do we have such thoughts? After you’ve just pressed the send button and wished you could delete the message but it’s too late.
This led me to the question on how we ought to conduct ourselves as Christians especially in the area of our speech. The bible gives us various principles which we can use to guide us particularly in a world system that tells us to accept ourselves for who we are. ‘She’s outspoken, understand her’, or ‘be bold be brave’ but should we do this without thinking about our neighbour or our Christian testimony?
Ephesians 4v25 tells us to put away falsehood and each of us ought to speak the truth in love with his neighbour.
Ephesians 5v 4 say let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk or crude joking that are out of place but instead there ought to be thanksgiving.
We should also recognise that we can evangelize to our non-believing friends through our conduct. Colossians 4v6 serves as a reminder that our speech should always be gracious and seasoned with salt so that we may know how to answer each person.
Let us remember to always let our light shine because we are ambassadors for Christ.

OUR STORIES

hey loves, its always good to be here....:)
today I have been listening to Taranda Greene's amazing testimony of how she has gone through so much heartache in trials and through them she has come out stronger. it is so encouraging and uplifting to hear testimonies of how people went through what seemed to be a difficult and dark situation and come out of it victorious.
but what if we all  took time to share our stories. I understand some maybe shameful and embarrassing. but suppose someone out there is going through the same and your story is what they need to hear to helped? paul tells us in 2corinthians 2:4through our afflictions we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction.
sometimes we tend to shy away and say we are not too good enough or have no courage to speak to others but his word says his strength is made perfect in weakness and at that point when think we cant speak, he will give us the right words to use.
all things work together for the good of those that love the lord. out of the different trials we may face I pray that we will come out as stronger Christians ready to share our stories. :)

Lessons From Trials

14th February will always be remembered as a bad day for my family. something tragic happened, my mother was hit by a car! worst news I have ever received. it left me in despair, desperation and utter sorrow. in all this God has been good to us and he still is. today, I want to share lessons learnt from this experience and trial.
  • Give thanks in everything-even pain! his word tells us to give thanks in all circumstances.
  • God will provide. whilst in hospital, mother needed an operation that was going to cost huge sums of money. the human instinct was to despair but God was gracious and provided the money.  even when the Israelites thought they were going to perish at the hands of the Egyptians, God parted the red sea and they crossed on dry land.  he is Jehovah Jireh, whatever you may need in whatever situation he is a provider.
  • Our plans are not God's plans. we have planned what seems to be the 'perfect' lives for ourselves. what to do today, tomorrow and the next day. but we ought to acknowledge that all this can change in the twinkling of an eye. we ought to say if the Lord wills we will live and do this or that.
  • Lean only on God in all circumstances because he is our refuge and strength in times of trouble. his name is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and they are safe.
  • You will not always have the desire to read the bible or pray but the beauty of daily devotions is that scriptures start to come to mind to encourage and strengthen you.
  • Nothing happens by accident or mistake. for the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous. everything happens under his loving and watchful eye.
  • All things work together for those who love God. we may not be able to understand why certain things befall us. sometimes to teach us to depend only on God, to strengthen our faith and walk with him or to purify us. at the time it is painful but God will not leave us nor forsake us.
  • Friendship with fellow believers is beautiful. when I couldn't pray, they prayed with me and continue to do so. they read scripture to encourage and strengthen me. choose your friends wisely.
I wrote this blog to encourage someone who may be going through what seems as a dark situation. my friend, God is with you and this circumstance will pass. he who promised is faithful and will never leave you. lets us therefore learn to  cast all our cares on him because he cares for us.
till next time lets keep it Jesus!

when you feel far away

How many times have you felt like you can not pray or read your bible? Maybe you find some little strength and manage to pick up your bible but your mind is not just there. you fail to concentrate, the prayer is not as hearty as it always is or you keep drifting away. I, too have felt that way so many times along my Christian walk. and it is in such times when we are supposed to draw closer to God but it is just plain HARD!

What causes it one may ask. probably a known sin previously engaged in and you think you are too filthy to come before the presence of God or the devil and his tricks is at again.
despite all this my source of encouragement and strength has been 1peter 5: 7- to cast ALL my cares on him because he cares for me. God is faithful and has promised to never leave us nor forsake us because he is our stronghold and the rock of our refuge.

If you ever come to such a point do not lose hope or get discouraged but hang on, pray that when your heart is overwhelmed he will lead to that rock that is higher than you. if it is sin, confess your sins to him who he is able to forgive all kind of sin and remember it no more. ours is to acknowledge our weakness at the feet of Jesus and ask him to mould and make us after his will because he is the potter and we are the clay....
                                                        with love,
